Mrs Dogger & I were bummed to see Pete's ride come to a premature end- we were following the ride closely and after a tough second and third day Pete seemed to be getting into the groove and riding strong.
At last count at least 21 of the original 48 had scratched- and statistics aside (2745 miles and 200K vertical feet) we began to appreciate the true difficulty of the climbing and the miles, compounded by heavy rain, hail and snow, as we listened to the call-in pod casts from the riders as they reported their struggles to keep going as their bodies and bikes began breaking down.
Pete, congratulations on taking on the challenge. Heal fast and we look forward to riding with you soon!
